Celebs are learning the hard way that violating probation isn’t such a brilliant idea.

Just a week after rapper Foxy Brown was sentenced to a year in the slammer, country singer Mindy McCready found herself facing the same fate, as a judge sentenced her to a year in County Jail for, you guessed it, violating her probation. She was arrested in Florida in July for fighting with her mom. Had she waited a few more months before attacking her mom, she wouldn’t have violated her probation on the prescription drug fraud charge conviction she got in 2004.

Still, the singer pleaded to the judge, “Your honor, I can honestly tell you this: This has been the longest two months of my life … not being able to hold my son … has been excruciatingly painful.” “I could only say I’m sorry. Please give me a chance to make things as right as they can possibly be.”

The appeal, however, fell on deaf ears. But McCready should look at the bright side. She’ll have plenty of time to write songs. I mean, isn’t that what Lil’ Kim did when she herself served time behind bars?
