If there were any doubts about the authenticity of the nude Vanessa Hudgens photo that circulated on the ‘net Thursday, this will clear them all away.

The High School Musical Star has released Friday a statement through her rep apologizing for the photo, where she is totally and frontally naked, and gave everyone the idea that she’s never heard of waxing. She says:

“I want to apologize to my fans, whose support and trust means the world to me. I am embarrassed over this situation and regret having ever taken these photos. I am thankful for the support of my family and friends.” [Source]

One thing I don’t get is that why she and her rep were so quick to express regret about the nudie, when the standard Hollywood practice for scandals like this is to deny, deny and deny. They should know that denial is practically the most effective marketing tool ever. Deny, and people will go to greater lengths to prove you’re lying. Then it becomes astronomically huge. Then you eventually admit to it, then watch sales of whatever it is you’re hawking go through the roof. She should have gotten a tip or two from fellow skanks Kim Kardashian and Paris Hilton. Now she’s just a skank who’ll definitely get dropped by Disney, which by the way hasn’t said anything about the issue yet.
